Below is a detailed breakdown of how Mock Tudor boards would be replaced/installed by our fitters. Whether they’re being replaced or starting from scratch, you can rest assured that you are in the best hands with Smart Installations. Please note that the photos below are taken from two separate jobs.
All the Mock Tudor planks are 3.5m long, so start by measuring your walls and making sure that you have the required amount, including any corner or curved planks.
The composite aluminium render panels are excellent backing panels that can be used in place of render.
To seal these boards to your exterior wall, apply a generous amount of adhesive to the back of the board, ensuring even coverage, and carefully position the board for an even, aligned application. Press firmly to ensure proper adhesion, use a level to check for straightness, and make any necessary adjustments before the adhesive sets.
I Use multi-purpose screws or concrete screws to secure the Mock Tudor in place, doing this will make the Mock Tudor secure and long-lasting installation.
Mark the position of all the fixings using a pencil for the pegs required. Leave a minimum of 25mm in from the sides of the plank. For each plank, you will need to measure for a minimum of 8 fixings. I then use a flat wood bit on the impact drill, carefully drill a shallow hole where you have marked for your fixings. Drilling 10-12mm deep is usually enough.
You then have to silicone the mock Tudor board in a zig-zag motion along the back of the plank. Make sure you leave a 25mm gap from the sides of the plank. Then, to glue your Mock Tudor board to the wall, hold in place and use the provided masonry drill bit to drill a 6.5mm hole, approximately 80mm deep.
After the Mock Tudor is fastened, blow out the dust where you’ve drilled to allow a clear silicone to be applied for the pegs. With all of this done, you’ll be left feeling just as pleased as our other customers:
