Considering replacing all your windows at once? Know what to expect, with Smart Installations
Have you ever considered giving your home a total revamp and updating all your windows in one fell swoop? There are certainly plenty of benefits.
When the time comes to replace your windows, it can be a great opportunity to think about how you want your house to look and whether you want to change the type or style of window, or stick with something similar to what you already have in place.
SMART Installations helps to ease the process, by helping you choose a window that combines your personal taste with the requirements and style of your home. Our clients are always amazed that they don’t need to select a window based on the existing structure of the wall and that we can help them replace a standard flat, double glazed window with a bay or bow window.
This style of window can have a quick, transformative effect and create atmosphere and character both inside and outside, making your home stand out from others in your street.
On first glance, a bow and a bay window look very similar. They both help to transform a room, adding the appearance of space and increasing light. But there are a few key differences between the two. The basic difference involves the number of sections and style that each window has.
On first glance, a bow and a bay window look very similar. They both help to transform a room, adding the appearance of space and increasing light. But there are a few key differences between the two. The basic difference involves the number of sections and style that each window has.
We’ve written this article to outline some of the differences in more detail, to help you decide which style is right for your home.
A bow window has a more curved shape than a bay window, creating a rounded appearance on the outside of the home, and has between 4 or 5 sections, each with the same style of window in each section. Although it doesn’t create additional floor space, they provide additional space within the window and increased light, both of which could increase the value of your home.
A bay window has three sections and bows outward. It has a centre, “picture” window and another style of window on either side, that protrude in hard, angled sections. They can be viewed as a small extension of the room, because they create additional floor space which can be used in various ways.
Whether you opt for a bow or bay window, boy have the potential to add to your home.

Smart Installations Mids Ltd is an established window, door and roofline installation company serving customers across Herefordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and the wider West Midlands region.
Our expert fitters recently installed Mock Tudor boards to restore the look and protect the future longevity of the exterior of our clients’ properties.
The images below are taken from 2 separate Mock Tudor installation projects.
Once we’d measured up and where appropriate, we used composite aluminium render panels as they are excellent backing panels that can be used in place of normal render.
We then applied a generous and even amount of adhesive to ensure proper adhesion and to seal these boards to the exterior walls, we carefully positioned the boards to ensure straightness and make any necessary adjustments before the adhesive sets.
Once the render panels were set in place and we had marked up the position of the fixing, we proceeded to install the Mock Tudor beams.
Our multi-purpose and concrete screws secure the Mock Tudor in place ensuring a long-lasting installation.
Credit goes to Matthew Davies and Morgan Bell for their work on these particular projects in restoring these properties to their former glory.
